Guillermo A. Benites, Vice President of Financial Services Guillermo A. Benites is Vice President of Financial Services for United Data Technologies, Inc. (UDT), a leading technology enabler that helps clients in major industries evaluate, architect, secure, and manage technology on the go, in the rack and in the cloud. Guillermo is responsible for the creation and innovation of business solutions for the financial services sector as well as for leading business development for this important vertical. He leverages more than 25 years of experience in several areas, including banking, regulatory compliance, computer forensic services, IT security and risk management. Prior to joining UDT, Guillermo enjoyed a distinguished career that included posts such as CEO of Axxis Solutions and COO of Enterprise Risk Management in addition to having served in various executive leadership positions at Caja Mediterráneo, Banco de Crédito del Perú, and Atlantic Security Bank of Miami. Guillermo obtained his Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice from Florida International University and holds a Master’s Degree in Business Administration and Finance from Nova Southeastern University. He is also a board member of the South Florida Banking Institute (SFBI), the Florida International Bankers Association (FIBA), and the Center for Financial Training, Southeastern Chapter. Most recently, Guillermo served as the President of SFBI for the 2018-2020 fiscal years. He is also active in The Beacon Council and the Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce.

Jeremy W. Smith, Director Division of Financial Institutions
Florida Office of Financial Regulation

Jeremy W. Smith joined the Office of Financial Regulation in 2011. He worked as an Analyst, Financial Administrator, and Bureau Chief of Bank Regulation prior to becoming the Director of the Division of Financial Institutions in April 2017. Mr. Smith brings management experience and provides effective leadership in the Division. Through his leadership efforts, he has implemented cost savings and streamlined business functions to better regulate financial institutions. He is a graduate of Florida Atlantic University where he earned a Bachelor’s degree in accounting. Mr. Smith is a 2015 graduate of the Florida School of Banking with academic honors. During his tenure with OFR he has worked closely with industry groups to modernize Florida Statutes, Rules and Forms pertaining to the regulation of Financial Institutions.

Sergio Pinon, Senior Vice President & Director of Security,
Ocean Bank

Sergio Piñon is currently the senior vice president and director of security for Ocean Bank. He is responsible for all of the physical security and investigations of all branches, and corporate headquarters. In 2009 he was appointed by the board of directors as the bank’s privacy and information security officer in addition to the corporate security role.

Prior to joining Ocean Bank, he spent 20 years at MasterCard Worldwide and retired as Group Executive in charge of all security & risk management global operations. While working in this capacity Sergio was involved in the writing and passing of credit card fraud-related legislation for the State of Florida. In 1989, he received a special award from the Florida Attorney General for his outstanding contribution to the citizens of Florida. He is recognized as one of the foremost experts in the field of credit card fraud, identity theft, cyber-crimes, and terrorism by many members of federal and state law enforcement agencies throughout the world. He is a former Intelligence Officer and Anti-terrorism expert, and a certified bomb technician.

Mr. Piñón graduated from Nova Southeastern University, where he received a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration and Professional Management. He is a Certified Ethical Hacker, Information Security Assessment (IAM) by the National Security Agency (NSA), Risk and Information Security Systems and Control (CRISC), AND Certified Financial Crimes Investigator (CFCI). He is a member of the FBI’s InfraGard’s South Florida Alliance Board of Directors, currently serving as Financial Services Sector Chief, and a member of the US Secret Service Economic Crimes Task Force. In 2018, he attended and completed the prestigious FBI CISO Academy in Quantico, Virginia. In 2019, he was once again nominated to attend the FBI’s InfraGard Alliance Leadership Academy also in Quantico, Virginia. He served in the US Army, two tours in Special Operations in the Republic of Vietnam, a decorated war hero awarded the Bronze Star Medal for bravery, amongst many other military awards such as 13 Helicopter flight combat medals, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Airborne flight wings, 2 presidential citations for safety and 2 presidential citations for meritorious achievement.

He also served as the CFO of American Express’s Japan/Asia Pacific/Australia Region. Stan Rubin serves on the Board of the Motivational Edge and the Advisory Board of the Village of Allapattah YMCA Family Center.

Emilio J. Del Riego, CIO, CISO & COO Consultant,

A seasoned leader in all areas of Information Security, Cyber Security, Data Privacy, Information Technology, and Bank operations. Emilio has over 30 years of strategic and technical expertise as a CIO, CISO, and COO in the financial services industry. Currently, he is completing his doctorate degree in Leadership and Innovation in order to complement years of work experience. As a proven transformational leader, he achieved organizational cultural change by ensuring the adoption of information security awareness, controls, policies, and processes. Manny G. Fernandez, CPrincipal Security Architect,
Fortinet

Manny Fernandez’s networking and Information Security experience spans over 29 years. He started off his career during the Novell days where he earned a Master CNE and MCSE working for Magic Box. During his time there, he realized the information security space was in its infancy but still a growing vertical for customers and decided to dedicate his focus on security.

He worked for Lucent Technologies as part of their incident response team and red team. After leaving Lucent, Manny started ITsecur am MSSP where he developed his own firewall platform delivering managed security services as one of the pioneers of that space. While running ITsecur, Manny was involved in many Federal, State and Civil court cases as an Expert Witness. He created the E4N6 division while at ITsecur where Digital Forensic and Data Recovery services were offered to prosecutors and defense attorneys.

Manny sold ITsecur and went to work with the acquiring company and later that company was acquired by CSPi (Formally Modcomp) where he helped create their managed service offering. After leaving Modcomp, Manny joined UDT and developed their Managed Security Services offering and served as Director of Professional Services and Director of Information Security and MSSP.

In 2007, Manny joined Fortinet as an SE supporting a sales team on technical sales. Today he is Team Lead of Systems Engineering and works with customers and partners to deliver Fortinet security solutions. He hosts a blog site dedicated to Information Security primarily Fortinet solutions (www.infosecmonkey.com).

Manny has a Bachelors in Computer Science from FIU and holds numerous industry certifications such as CISSP, CISM, CCNP, CCSP, NSE3-7, PCNSE & CEH. He is a Kentucky Coronel, Recipient of the Daniel Carter Beard Masonic Scouter Award, and a member of many philanthropic and fraternal organizations dedicated to helping children from our communities.
