SFBI: Chief Credit / Enterprise Risk

SFBI: Chief Credit / Enterprise Risk

February 17, 2016

With the increase in breaches and incidents in financial institutions, it is very important to be risk aware as a company to make sure your clients are protected. This event brought together Chief Enterprise Risk Officers Louis Ferreira (Banesco USA), Stan Rubin (Ocean Bank), Shareholder Kevin Levy (GrayRobinson), and Director of US Operations Michael Lopez (Easy Solutions) to address issues affecting the financial industry. S. Marshall Martin of City National Bank moderated the event. The panelists for this month’s event discussed the best ways to make sure your financial institution does not face risks without protection. A Q&A session provided an interesting engagement between issues that legal and chief credit risk officers of financial institutions have come across. One area that was especially dissected was the fact that mobile devices make it easy for hackers to compromise information from clients through the use of apps, links, and emails. These professionals discussed their backgrounds and experience in handling these situations. Each had a different viewpoint, but all addressed the same goal, which is to implement practices that ensure an effective and secure establishment. Managing security and lowering risk is something that will always be evolving alongside technology advances. The best way to minimize risk is to ensure you are protected at all times, keeping an eye out for potential fraudulent transactions, and establishing security protocols for the Company.
