Guillermo Benites Vice President of Financial Services, United Data Technologies

Guillermo A. Benites is Vice President of Financial Services for United Data Technologies, Inc. Guillermo is responsible for the creation and innovation of business solutions for the financial services sector as well as for leading business development for this important vertical. Prior to joining UDT, Guillermo enjoyed a distinguished career that included posts such as CEO of Axxis Solutions and COO of Enterprise Risk Management in addition to having served in various executive leadership positions at Caja Mediterráneo, Banco de Crédito del Perú, and Atlantic Security Bank of Miami.

Guillermo obtained his Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice from Florida International University and holds a Master’s Degree in Business Administration and Finance from Nova Southeastern University. He is also a board member of the South Florida Banking Institute (SFBI), the Florida International Bankers Association (FIBA), and the Center for Financial Training, Southeastern Chapter.Currently, Guillermo is serving as the President of SFBI for the 2018-2019 fiscal year. He is also active in The Beacon Council and the Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce.

Jeremy W. Smith, Director Division of Financial Institutions, Florida Office of Financial Regulation

Jeremy W. Smith joined the Office of Financial Regulation in 2011. He worked as an Analyst, Financial Administrator, and Bureau Chief of Bank Regulation prior to becoming the Director of the Division of Financial Institutions in April 2017. Mr. Smith brings management experience and provides effective leadership in the Division. Through his leadership efforts, he has implemented cost savings and streamlined business functions to better regulate financial institutions. He is a graduate of Florida Atlantic University where he earned a Bachelor’s degree in accounting. Mr. Smith is a 2015 graduate of the Florida School of Banking with academic honors. During his tenure with OFR he has worked closely with industry groups to modernize Florida Statutes, Rules and Forms pertaining to the regulation of Financial Institutions.

Sergio Piñon, Senior Vice President & Director of Security, Ocean Bank

Sergio Piñon is currently the senior vice president and director of security for Ocean Bank. He is responsible for all of the physical security and investigations of all branches, and corporate headquarters. In 2009 he was appointed by the board of directors as the bank’s privacy and information security officer in addition to the corporate security role.

Prior to joining Ocean Bank in 2008, he spent 20 years at MasterCard Worldwide, and retired as Group Executive in charge of all security & risk management global operations. While working in this capacity Sergio was involved in the writing and passing of credit card fraud related legislation for the State of Florida. In 1989, he received a special award from the Florida Attorney General for his outstanding contribution to the citizens of Florida. He is recognized as one of the foremost experts in the field of credit card fraud, identity theft, cyber-crimes, and terrorism by many members of federal and state law enforcement agencies throughout the world. He is a former Intelligence Officer and Anti-terrorism expert, and a certified bomb technician.

Mr. Piñón graduated from Nova Southeastern University, where he received a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration and Professional Management. He is a Certified Ethical Hacker, Information Security Assessment (IAM) by National Security Agency, Risk and Information Security Systems and Control (CRISC) AND Certified Financial Crimes Investigator (CFCI). He is a member of InfraGard, Financial Services Sector Chief, Secretary of the Board, and member of the US Secret Service Economic Crimes Task Force.

Tom Neclerio, Senior Vice President of Security Services, United Data Technologies

Tom Neclerio is Senior Vice President of Security Services at United Data Technologies Inc. (UDT), a leading technology enabler that helps clients in major industries evaluate, architect, secure, and manage technology on premise, on mobile, and in the cloud.

Early in his career, Tom was Co-Founder of Guarded Networks (aka SilverSky), one of the first MSSPs focused on financial institutions. In this role, Tom’s vision and leadership grew a high-performing managed security business that was acquired in 2014 by BAE Systems, a global leader in cyber security and defense.
