(Miami, FL)- On March 21, 2018, South Florida Banking Institute hosted their third event of the year at the Airport Hilton Hotel. This month’s panel was focused specifically on Millennials in the Workforce.

As Millennials are becoming an integral part of every industry, it is important for leaders and decision makers to know how to best manage and connect with Millennials. Millennials love to be involved. Their quick mindsets need to be constantly challenged. They help us to tackle projects and tasks, all while helping us become better leaders. Born into a generation of advanced technology, millennials are well connected, and are driven and motivated by experiences. Their definition of success is being involved, making an impact, but most importantly-happiness.

Some tips to help establish healthy relationships with millennials in the workplace include:

  • Establish Core Values
  • Promote a Consistent Vision
  • Tailor A Healthy and Cultured Environment
  • Provide Performance Challenges
  • Provide Health and Wellness Perks
  • Provide Psychological Safety
  • Offer Customized Professional Development Plans
  • Offer Flexibility
  • Be A Leader, Be Involved
  • Provide Constant Feedback
  • Provide Room For Involvement and Experience

Today’s management style has been changing from a corporate management style to a leadership approach. Millennials take interest in personal and professional development. One thing is for certain- millennials are not afraid to look at projects and opportunities with a different approach. Their adaptability to new technologies are a huge asset in helping provide resourceful and progressive results. Combining fundamental core values, and strong leadership with the strong and cultured mindsets of the new age can help set any industry up for success.
